Chat thread 12/8-12/15

Thought I'd make a new chat thread. Old one is here.

Any one else have a very frustrated baby? River wants to put everything in his mouth but doesn't quite have the coordination to get it in each time or to hold it there, and when it falls out he starts getting really cranky and cries. I seriously have to take his toys away from him multiple times a day and let him "cool off." I've also been helping him by holding onto the toys when he really wants to chew on things, like his icy teething ring or his Sophie toy. But after a few minutes he gets mad about this too.

I have a cranky baby, but he's got the hand/mouth thing down pat.

He's just apparently starving. He's never been fed before and he'll never be fed again, apparently. He can't sleep alone because he has to eat about every half hour. I'm actually going to be buying the super absorbent diaper inserts because he's started leaking so frequently. Input increases, output increases. And more covers. He poops so much that the "required" amount isn't enough. I like it, though. Healthier to poop often and saves on blowouts!

RambleRamble. Not getting enough sleep.

I know what you mean about nighttime eating and diapers. We started using 3 inserts in our Bumgenius at night, and they are always completely soaked in the morning, and we still have leakage sometimes. His diaper is so big that we can't button up his PJs all the way at the crotch area. :)

cat13, are you using just microfiber inserts? I have mostly Alva brand pockets and I use one of their inserts and one small Fuzzibunz hemp insert, and it will get us through 9 hours. It is totally soaked in the morning, but has never leaked (yet...)! I'm hoping this system still works as she grows. I don't want to go back to using disposables overnight!

She does still have huge nighttime pajama booty though. :)

What a cutie! I've been using the Bumgenius insert plus 2 extra Fuzzibunz microfiber inserts. Do the hemp ones hold more?

Aw look at that CD butt!

I just started putting Finn back in cloth hoping our stink issues are over.  We'll have to see, I'm going to wash them today.  fingersx.gif

Becky, I sooooo hear you on the rambleramble. caffix.gif

Finnley is so frustrated lately.  He's just starting to get the whole "chewing makes things feel better" but can really only get his hands in his mouth so toys just really get him worked up.  So funny/horribly sad that you have to take River's away!

gottle luv those cd bums...zippering the pjs up is a talent to be hold.

So, Sofie was 6 pounds 3 ounces at birth, at 4 months she is 13 pounds 9 ounces! Happy chubby girl!

I was sooo happy could not wait to come here and report. We have been bfing for 4 months now, still I live with the fear of someone saying she is not gaining enough. My mother could not bf me past 4 months due to lack of weight gain, so I am just happy we made it so far.

Congrats elove!  Sofie is thriving on the food that is perfect for her, fom a mom that is amazing.  I have no doubt that you'll bf as long as you and Sofie want.

Today was my oldest's 10th birthday. Where the heck did the past ten years of my life go? lol.gif It's all been a blur.

Ada is a weeble wobble these days. She can sit up for a few moments, but topples over. LOL  She is also frustrated by not being quite able to get things into her mouth. She's getting better!

I haven't weighed her lately, but everyone comments on how chunky she is. I say she is well fed. winky.gif

Yep! The hemp holds a ton, but doesn't absorb as fast as the microfiber - so the microfiber will soak it up when they pee and then wick it into the hemp, is how the lady at the cloth diaper store explained it to me. No leaks since!

Sounds good go me. We have leaks about 2 nights a week, so I guess I'll start to keep my eyes peeled for deals on hemp liners. Thanks!

Mal is leaking a lot at night, too. I used 3 bumgenius inserts last night and he did okay, but so much of the time I wake up and he's just completely soaked. I love his big cloth diaper bum.

Malcolm is hands in mouth all the time, too. And yesterday he brought a toy to his mouth what looked like intentionally for the first time! But then he dropped it, and then he fussed. He's not quite rolling from his back to his belly, but he is soooo close. He gets all worked up rocking back and forth and doesn't want to go to sleep. But he slept in until 10 this morning, so I'm happy.

So he now weighs about what my daughter did when she was ONE (20lbs). She was in the 10th percentile, he's above the 95th. They sure are different, aren't they? And he's just 15 weeks. He's got such a barrel chest, I love it.

Have you posted a pic of Mal recently? I can't remember seeing him.

I can't believe he's 20lbs!  I think your guy was the biggest at birth in our DDC, no?   River seems to be taking all his chub and turning it into length. I actually got a little worried yesterday because now I have to snap his diapers on tighter than normal because he's lost his big buddha belly, but he is getting super tall. We have his WBV this week, so I'll see what he really weighs.

I haven't!  Thanks for asking. My computer has some problem where every time I try and attach or upload a picture it bluescreens. I just transferred some over onto DF's computer so I could post them. I actually feel like Malcolm has gotten a little longer and leaner in the last few days, too! It reminds me of a little seed pod that gets super plump and then shoots up into a flower.

I've been so curious about him, yay for you posting! He was 11 at birth, so I wanted to see what he was up to now :D And I'd love to see any pictures!

Charlie was doing that thing where he goes from back to side and straaaaains, but doesn't roll over. Very cute.  And yay for sleep! :)

I totally need to get some recent pics of DS up here!

So, DP and I discussed it and I am going to quite my job or I am considering doing a very minimal fill in position doing the same stuff.  Yeah!!  I am feeling much better.  The down side is that if I don't work we can't really justify the expense of DDs preschool and she looooves it.  However, she also loves having me home and in a good state where I can provide her with the attention she needs that comes from a  happy mom.

I am thinking about starting a blog and also looking into possibly starting an Etsy shop.  I know that some of you have blogs; I would love to check them out for ideas and inspiration.  Do any of you have an Etsy shop?  If so, what did you sell, how well do items seem to sell, is it/has it been a worthwhile venture?

DS is fussing gotta go.
