Would you get your toddler a "toddler safe" trampoline?

anyone have a trampoline for their younger toddler? I have been eyeing this one from one step ahead:

or this slightly bigger one

Do you guys think these are worth the money?

Do you think they are safe for a 20 month old starting out on one?

Anyone have one- and does your child use it tons or not so much?

I am looking for more ways to help my son be able to burn off some energy on colder winter days when we are home inside a lot.

I am just wondering if people think these are worth the money, if they are safe, and if they are really an attraction for a younger toddler?

I have never had this kind with the handle, but other small exercise type and a big one too. All my kids LOVE the trampoline, it was one of the best investments I ever made, hands down. If your toddler is bouncy by nature, he will spend HOURS a day on it.

V just got this one today for her birthday, and not only LOVES it, but jumps very safely, which was a bit of a surprise.

I was surprised to see it, but it's actually recommended on ahaparenting.com

HERE

That changed my mind- I've always thought about those as injury-magnets, but if Dr. Laura likes 'em...

My DS loves the trampolines at KinderGym - we've been thinking about getting him one.  My main concern with the first one you listed is the weight limit.  At 2, my DS is already too heavy for it.

If I didn't already have a twin mattress on the floor, probably.  DD jumps on that bed at least a half hour every day, if not more.  It's a great way for her to get some large body movement and burn off some energy, especially in the winter.  She also takes flying leaps off of the big bed onto the little bed.  She actually doesn't even sleep in the bed, she just jumps on it.

I got one for my son when he was about 2.5 because he was gross motor delayed, and it helped his progress with jumping in between physical therapy sessions.  We had an Exercera exercise trampoline, and it was well worth the money.  He used it sporadically after a while, and then I would bring it in from the garage for my daughter when she was old enough, and then I sold it on Craigslist.

Neither kid ever got hurt on it, but I made sure to always have it in the middle of a carpeted room with no furniture nearby.  They couldn't jump very high on it anyway.

I was thinking about getting one for my 18mo dd but I wasn't sure if she's too young for it... anyone used it at this age?

Sorry if this is a silly quesiton, but can she jump yet?  I don't think it will do much unless she can already jump.  FWIW, I know an 18monther who comes to our house and jumps on the bed.  He would totally love a trampoline, I think.  DD, on the other hand, could not jump until she was a little over 2, so it would have been useless to her.

I had thought about getting one for my daughter, but I think she'd prefer a Rody horse because she really likes bouncing on her bum.  If we could get both, I definitely would.  I think it's a great idea.

Definitely not a silly question, I am the silly one for not thinking that to get on a trampoline, you need to be able to jump! Sheepish.gif

My friend has one and both of my kids, 3 and 1, like jumping on it when we are over there.  I don't feel like getting one for our house though because I could see it getting too rough.  Fighting over it.  Someone crawling under it while the other one jumps.

Regarding be able to jump: My son was practically 3 before he could jump.  My daughter has been jumping for months now and she's 21 months.  She LOVES to jump and has been trying to since she could walk.

My DS loved the netted-in trampoline at the grandparent's at 16 months or so. I mean, he fell a lot before he learned his balance, but he has really excellent balance and reaction times for a 2 YO now in part I believe to letting him do things slightly above his current 'easy zone' (or something winky.gif). I think a 20 MO would probably love a small trampoline. My mom ordered a small one for DS for christmas http://www.littletikes.com/kids-toys/little-tikes-7-first-trampoline well it's 7 feet,m but we have an extra room we are going to put it in and I am picturing him loving it, and it will be great in the cold weather. In the summer we will move it out for sure.

Hi, I have a rebounder for myself, which is basically a really tightly pulled trampoline, and not very large for exercise. My dd loves it!! I don't know if I would feel comfortable having it out all the time, but when I am willing to play with her on it, she seems to have a lot of fun and expel a lot of energy.
