Just a quick intro:)

Hi! I usually hang out at the diapering board, but decided I better c'mon on down to this one too Well, here's my story
I am 5' 1/2 " and in less than a year I lost almost 70lbs. on WW. I was their poster child-hehe:LOL Then we started TTC, and got pg with ds, which I gave birth to in Nov of '03. I started back on WW at 6 wks post-partum and lost 11lbs. but then had Major surgery and gained it back... So, here I am at a whooping 193 lbs. and feeling every aching lb. of it... I loved being a size 8 again, and I just can't get used to this body. My only complaint about WW was that towards the end, I was only on 18 pts. and I was starving!! I would literallly dream about food. I felt like I had gotten a reprieve when I got pg with ds:LOL I have thought about the South Beach Diet, since it's supposed to be healthier than Atkins... I just can't get used to eating meat so much-I tend to be almost a vegetarian. So, here I am and here I will stay until I lose the gut and butt Sonia

Sonia -

I'm doing the South Beach diet right now. And yep, lots of meat. But I also fill my days w/ cheeses and veggies (except corn, potatoes, carrots). There's even a ricotta cheese dessert you can have that is yummy, yummy!

I was totally addicted to carbs and the first 4 days of this plan sucked, but after that my cravings were gone. It's been very easy to follow because you don't have to limit yourself on the amount you eat.

But yep, lots of meat too.

Welcome and good luck!

Hi. As someone who is 5'2" and went from 175 to 120 in just under a year now, I can sympathize with your having lost so much then having gained it back. (Or, rather, I can imagine how that would feel.) n I'm sure your mind still remembers how it felt to be size 8 and no doubt you want to be that again.

If I can make a suggestion.... Find an exercise you like and start gradually with it and work your way up as you feel up to it. I'm not sure about any of these diets. I did change my eating habits GREATLY and tha'ts helped- but what I did was cut out partially hydrogenated oils and high fructose corn syrup. Plus I eat more wholel grains, fruist and veggies- never red meat. But that was mostly because my cholesterol was extremely high. You don't necessarily have to do that. (Though I don't see how it could hurt.) BTW, now if I eat red meat I'll get a stomach ache! Whereas a year ago, I remember sitting down to eat a double cheese burger meal with Fries and biggie coke from MCDonald's and thinking how good it tasted and how I wasn't even full after finishing it all! OH MY!

Good luck. You can do it! A journey of a mile starts with one step....

Hey, our stories are similar! I am a shorty too, 5'2'', and lost 70 pounds also. I totally second the exercise idea, I mean you will have more energy and lovely moods to boot, eh?

I had a hard time with any diet that made it ok to eat as much of something as you want because my internal "sensors" suck. I am a habitual overeater and w/o counting my calories I overeat, plain and simple. That doesn't mean I have to starve myself. I eat a well rounded balanced diet moderate in fat, carbs and protien. I just journal how much of it online www.fitday.com rocks!!! When I was losing weight I figured out how many calories I needed with my weight, height, activity level, and the fact that I breastfeed. Then I made sure I ate a little less. Sure enough the weight dropped!

I hope I coming across as supportive and encouraging rather that obnoxious!!! Good luck with the journey to health!

Peace,
Shelley
