Iowa Medicaid or Medicare recipients. I have a technical question about paying for a midwife.

the only out of pocket expense was for the birth kit and some med supplies. like $1500. i was wondering if anyone had luck getting reimbursed by medicare or medicaid for that expense?

Confused about your question ... are you asking if people have had Medicaid pay the midwife fee or if they will pay for the birth kit and supplies? I guess the amount is what's confusing me. Medicaid will pay for a midwife if she is able to bill them. They will not pay for the birth kit or supplies that I have found but what I am thinking about is usually less than $100. i was actually asking about the $1500 that medicaid doesnt pay for here. but it is moot anyway. i have medicare as my primary and there are no homenbirth midwifes who take that so medicaid wont pay it either. i have to pay out of pocket and am sure that i cant get it reimbursed.
