eczema relief

My 27 mo DD has been suffering with eczema pretty much from birth (even though she's not vaxed, we delayed solids, and she had breastmilk until 24 mo). We have tried many things to get at the root of the problem including elimination diet, removing dairy, grains, nuts, etc., homeopathy, herbs, bone broths, raw dairy (until we eliminated it), probiotics... She seemed much improved spring through fall of this year, but in the last few weeks the symptoms have reappeared. She has large red rough and irritated patches on her legs and has been having trouble sleeping the last few nights due to itching, crying and asking me to fix it (it just breaks my heart). While we are looking at other avenues of healing, I need to find something that will calm the skin and provide relief from itching (she scratches at night to the point of bleeding). I've tried all kinds of oils, coconut, shea, olive, almond, primrose, hemp. I've heard some good things about Florasone, but I'm not super comfortable with all the ingredients. Has anyone had any success with a topical treatment to soothe the skin and relieve the itching?

I think I would do a food sensitivity blood test. It could be other things, for example my dd is sensitive to flax and bananas....so those things were removed and things improved...

We did allergy testing and it came back negative. But I'm considering sensitivity testing too. I'm looking for a doctor in my area who will order the tests.

I have the same problem. My daughter has had eczema since she was a few months old. She is now two and six months old. It is a struggle because many doctors simply say "give her medicine, put lotion, don't give her baths and give it time." It is a struggle to watch them be itchy and irritated. I also beleive my daughter has alot of allergies but i have not found a doctor to send me to a specialist because of my insurance. I think the best thing is to keep skin hydrated and I have found one topical medicine that can help when the skin is very bad. It was prescribed but it is not best to use it all the time. I am still looking for answer. good luck to you

I think everyone responds differently to natural treatments. What works for some may not work for others. I took acidophilis for a while and it helped. I also do allergy shots. Topically, I found a somewhat local company that grows neem and also sells pure neem oil. It smells awful, but it did help. I also put chamomile essential oil in my bath...and sometimes epsom salt. The calendula first aid creams help to sooth weepy rashes and prevent infection. For my babies, I always run it by the pediatrician before trying anything homeopathic or natural, just incase.

I tried neem and probiotics, Epsom and calendula infusion in her baths. I think the infusion was helpful as far as soothing her skin. After a bath I would slather on a coconut, shea and Mac nut oil blend to seal in the moisture. However, her skin still remains rough and dry.

Have you tried emu oil and/or shea butter?  My DD had terrible eczema as a baby and I made a salve out of emu, shea butter and beeswax, applied it daily and within a week it was gone.

I've tried shea and beeswax, but not emu. Is there a brand you'd recommend?
