Just found out i'm having twins, need an OB recommendation

Hi. I'm due in April, I was seeing a midwife and planning a homebirth here on Long Island (Nassau County). But when I had my 20wk ultrasound we discovered twins! The midwives won't do a twin homebirth, and she doesn't feel comfortable continuing my pre-natal care -- I have a very non-medical lifestyle, so having to find an OB is kind of throwing me for a loop - I definitely need someone who is "on the level" so-to-speak so I don't end up with a cascafe of interventions and a c-section if it's not absolutely necessary.

I would see if you could find another midwife who is willing to do a twin pregnancy/birth. I know there are many who wont do twin HOMEbirths (though some who do, depending on region - I know an awesome Mama who had a twin HBAC (twin homebirth after C-section)), but it really sucks that your midwife won't do a routine, healthy twin pregnancy AT ALL. I would look around at that option first (a midwife who will do a twin pregnancy with a "backup" OB just in case, even if it isn't at home). That way, at least if you are birthing at a hospital (which could be your only choice depending on where you live), you are with a midwife who is more likely to understand your lifestyle and birthing choices.

Congratulations on your twins, sorry for the loss of your midwifery care. As Carly suggestion, hopefully you can find another midwife who might consider a twin pregnancy, if not for a homebirth then for a BC or hospital.
