What is considered "normal" spotting?

I am spotting just a little, and of course, freaking out. When (if at all) should I be concerned? I am 11 weeks today...

Brown spotting is normal, even brown tinged with pink. Anything red or accompanied by cramping, you might want to call your MW/OB. I had spotting with one of my pregnancies, twice, and each time it lasted for two days.

Yes!

Remember, brown is old blood... and is usually caused by a some sort of "trauma" to your cervix (nothing actually traumatic, but a hard BM or sex or an internal exam can cause it to bleed, because it is SO engorged with blood right now!) There are other causes as well, but a little bit of brown/pink spotting is usually really quite benign. But of course, your MW/OB should still be told at your next appointment, or ASAP if you get the symptoms Lindy said.

Its definitely brown, only one "wipe" had a tinge of pink. There isn't anything I can think of that would cause it, except me pulling my pants down to pee and nearly peeing my pants because I sneezed ! lol. It seems to have stopped for now, so I'm just going to take it easy. MW appt on Friday!

I had spotting last week( at 11wks 3 days) it was at night after a long day. I was getting to bed anyway so rested up,in the morning there was one wipe of light brown tinged mucus.

I did see a bright red spot, but nothing since then. Didn't even have to wear a panty liner.

I didn't call the midwife but will tell them at my next appointment.

I had a similar episode with DS's pregnancy.

I will be 10 weeks tomorrow and had brown spotting last night. Mine is accompanied by cramping, but not severe. My RE's nurse said it is likely growing pains causing the cramping. DH and I did DTD the other night, so that is probably what caused the spotting for me.

Besides the "normal" causes (DTD, exams) last pg I had quite a bit of this due to low-lying placenta. It moved out of the way in plenty of time, though. Another cause I have heard of is a leaking or ruptured corpus luteum cyst. So it's not necessarily gloom & doom. Just unnerving!
