To the person who can't get the smell of smoke out

Just joined. it is possible if the room/house was filled with smoke for any length of time, that the paint smell actually got into the paint in the walls. If this is the case, there is a commercial paint called Bin that can be used as a primer to eliminate the smell. I helped a friend remodel a burnt out house and this is what we used, successfully I might add.

As mentioned before, get rid of the pan Even from the balcony it is possible the smell is permeating the air in the room from the balcony.

For cleaning hard surfaces, use a combination of equal parts vinegar and baking soda. Mix this in a bucket because it will foam instantly. It becomes a pleasant smelling fabric softener alternative. You can also mix a batch to use a fabric softener in the washer. I did this when all I had was food stamps and couldn't afford fabric softener. It is very good. Just store in a gallon jug and slosh or shake lightly before using and hold top away from your face when opening as it has a little pressure release like a can of soda pop after shaking.

I believe it would help deoderize pet stains in carpet as well.

Unfortunately, sometimes you can't get rid of smoke smell. When it gets into the drywall and then the insulation and then the framing, you can smell it coming out of all the electrical sockets. The only recourse is to tear out the drywall, insulation and framing and put new stuff in.
