Saturated fat question

Thread Starter

We buy Carr's Whole Wheat Crackers and I know it didn't have trans fats. But, now I notice it has saturated fat. If it's a vegetarian item, which it is then how come it contains saturated fat? Isin't saturated fat, fat from animal products?

Thanks for your help.

as far as I know, coconut/palm products are saturated fats (acids)

Saturated fat is a fat that solidifies when cold.  So yes, animal fats are saturated, but so are some vegetable fats like the pp said.  Even olive oil is partially saturated, in that it is liquid at room temp but solidifies somewhat when chilled.
