How often to check urine?

I'm UPing and bought some aim sticks because I get bladder infections easily and I also get symptoms of bladder infections but then don't end up having a real bladder infection. If you are checking your urine throughout your pregnancy, how often are you doing it? When I had OB prenatal care before she never checked unless I thought I had symptoms.

Normally they check your urine for sugar and protein at every prenatal visit.  They checked my urine last pregnancy when I thought had a bladder infection, but only because I voiced my concern.
