My son changed since he was last vaccinated...

Hello,

I have a 7 year old son, who had missed a well child visit at 4 years old (due to upper respitory infection) They saw him for that instead. I forgot to rebook the well child. So, long story short, they gave him a series of 5 shots at his 5 year check up. And that is when it all started. He doesn't listen, he is very hyper, he does not sleep, he wakes up constantly throughout the night. And I am a single mom. When we are out in public, he does listen most of the time, but he is just sooooooo over active all the time. And he used to be very well behaved before that visit. I always believed in vaccinating him, but I asked if we could split of the vaccines, and the RN told me it was completely safe. So I stupidly listened. Now when I bring it up, they think i am crazy! And they say he is a normal 7 year old. But what if all those shots did something to him? And I am not looking into it any further... Can anyone give me advise? Or maybe a different way to approach it with his Pedi?

Thank you for any help...

I am so sorry this happened and yes I do believe it could be related to vaccinations. Many moms here with have useful information for you.

There are theory's of vaccines being related to the high rise of ADHD, autism, learning disorders, neurological problems, allergic disorders, and autoimmune diseases, in the last 20 years. My son is soooo extremely hyper, barley listens, constantly fights sleep. He had a change in behavior and regression in speech after his 12 month shots, I worry his hyperactivity could be due in part to vaccines. When I brought this concern to the attention of his doctor he acted like i was crazy, saying hes just a normal toddler with temper tantrums. So....now I am looking for a new pediatrician. Tell your doctor you want to be referred to a behavioral therapist to have him evaluated, if your really concerned. We went to a speech therapist after his regression, and my possibly see a behavioral therapist soon. If your doctor makes you feel like that, and doesn't truly listen to your concerns....I would say find a new one who will. Its definitely worth looking more into

Vaccines can trigger food intolerances that affect the brain. (If you dont believe this is possible, think about what your brain is like after several beers.)

Read Special Diets For Special Kids by Lisa Lewis.

My first suggestion would be to get him off all dairy and gluten, but to do it gradually, over a couple of weeks. Sub rice pasta for regular pasta, buy Udi's gf bread, get some gf pancake mix, make chicken nuggets from scratch using crushed rice chex or corn meal for breading. Get Betty Crocker gf cake and cookie mixes.

Sub almond milk (as long as he has no nut issues), coconut, soy, or rice milk for regular, but don't tell him anything is different.  You can start by mixing 3 parts or more regular to one part soy and gradually changing over.

The reason I suggest doing it this way is, a lot of kids with these inssues are EXTREMELY resistant to any kind off change.

If he is hyperactive, 3 other things are very important: a well-defined schedule (with transition warnings, and, surprisingly, without a lot of undefineded down time), plenty of exercise (preferably outdoors), and enough sleep (difficult when they're so resistant to bedtime, but there are a lot of tried-and-true strategies.

For a 5-year-old with these issues, martial arts, Suzuki violin, and theater/acting classes are fantastic.

Please remember that correlation is not causation.  Just because two things occurred at a similar time doesn't mean that one caused the other.  Look for all of the possible causes you can find--not just vaccination-related ones.

I agree that you should look for all possible causes, not just vaccines.

However, please remember that thousands of people have reported the correlation of onset of the same symptoms you report with being given vaccines.  We've all been told that "correlation does not equal causation," even those who have video footage of the day before and the day after the vaccination ("it's just coincidence, it would have happened anyway, even without the vaccine!").

Amazing, how those who say "correlation does not equal causation" when it comes to vaccine reactions believe that the flu shot protects from the flu, even though the latest studies indicate that it is only as effective as...a placebo.  Somehow, they believe that, in the case of the flu shot, even weak correlation equals causation...

It's the same thing with just about any OTC medication (and many prescription meds as well).  Take a pill, feel better, the pill must have "caused" your recovery!
