I actually went to 125! It was structurally a mess when I was there in 1994-1995, and there were so many strata and so much inequality to the education infrastructure there that I can't believe it took them this long to put it under review. For the 7th grade, for example, the students were ranked by overall average and put into classes with others of the same grade range. It ranged from 7-SPE1 (highest grades; the smartest of the smart; these kids went to the top high schools in the city) to 7-20 something. The SPE classes, 1 - 3, and the regular/non "talented and gifted" class, 7-1, received the best materials, best teachers, and had the most money thrown their way for programs, trips, etc. Everyone else got the dregs, sadly. If the school's administration had spread the love, so to speak, towards the non-SPE classes perhaps the school wouldn't be on the chopping block.
