Fibromyalgia/CFS as reaction to certain vaccines in older children?

Hi Steven,

I'm hoping that maybe you can help me in my search. I am curious about searching VEARS database for older children who had adverse reactions in the form of fibromyalgia or Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. I have tried searching myself and find it to be quite confusing. I suspect that my own fm is the result of a vaccine injury, but as it was almost 15 years ago there's not much I can do about it now. I am trying to find more information on the link between the two though, for my own piece of mind and to help in making medical decisions for my children.

Thanks in advance!

Yes, searching VAERS data (whether on MedAlerts or on CDC Wonder) is not a simple task...there are so many choices.

Since you are looking for reactions, you want to search by "Symptoms", which are in Section 2. Because that section is less often used, it starts-off "collapsed" and you have to click the "OPEN" button on the right to see it.

Then you can select "Fibromyalgia" or "Chronic fatigue syndrome" and click "Find".

There aren't many "Fibromyalgia" VAERS events (265), and even fewer "Chronic fatigue syndrome" events (62) so you won't have much data to work with.

Also, note that VAERS data goes back to 1990, so your own injury is covered by the database. And if you never reported it, it's not too late...the government never closes a case or considers data too old.
