My DS is 7 months old and I introduced solid food a month ago. At first I just jud BLW with large chunks of food, but I don't think I have the temperament to see him gag and not panic! So I started hand feeding him table food in small pieces, and he loves it. Dahl rice, curry, chicken, okra, broccoli, squash, tofu, turkey, all kinds of good stuff.
Â
I'm kind of alarmed at the amount he eats since I expected that he would only eat a few spoonfuls at every meal and most of his nutrition would come from breastmilk. But he LOVES solids and eagerly grabs at my hand when I'm feeding him. He easily downs about a 1/4 cup of food 3x a day. I nurse him very frequently--before and after naps and at nightwakings, so about 7x a day--but he still likes a lot of solids. He does only nurse for about 2-3 minutes after the letdown, maybe I'm not making enough milk? I am drinking lots of Mother's Milk Tea and I feel quite full in the breasts between nursings.

Should I cut back on the solid food even though he seems happy? I know that most of his nutrition is supposed to be from milk. Is it possible that too much solid food will harm him?
