My first came up to me shortly after his 2nd birthday, (and right after I'd ordered a HUGE custom stash of diapers from Stickypeas, of course orngtongue.gif) and told me he was never wearing diapers again, and he didnt! He had a few accidents but that was it. I was in charge of toddlers/potty training when I worked at a daycare center for a few years, so I thought I had this down, but my second son is really stumping me.

He has 0 interest and is not bothered at all by being wet or dirty. SOMETIMES he'll come and get me and say "you need to change my diaper". He is very very smart, and very very strong willed. I did not want to push him at all because he is the type of kid who will do the opposite of what he thinks you want him to do. About 6 months ago he started refusing to wear cloth anymore, and he is in disposables all the time. We tried pull ups but he holds it and then pees a HUGE pee and the pullups were leaking everywhere. I also tried some cloth trainers but there was a mix up in sizing and I ended up being out 200 bucks and I can't afford to do that again right now. He is also starting to fight me for changes which is driving me nuts. He gets so mad when I change them and tells me he doesnt want anyone to change him ever. I tell him that he needs to start using the toilet then. He says "No! I'm not doing that. You're never going to see me using a toilet!". Other times he gets very excited about using the toilet and wearing underwear. He's very into being a big boy and NOT a baby so I am thinking I can use that to my advantage somehow.

I have 6 different types of potties, including a really fun urinal. We've tried every bribe imaginable (even bruder trucks!!) and candy. A few weeks ago my husband and I decided to try again (it had been a few months since we'd brought it up). We bought a TON of juice and set a timer for every 30 min to sit on the potty with the ipad for 10 min. He had 6 accidents, and then because he's not used to having juice he got horrible stomach cramps and diarrhea. He has never once peed in the potty. He also refuses to go pantless in any way. When we put him in shorts, if the pee touches his legs it burns them because he has excema. He will also hold his pee for hours.

It's almost like he seriously has no idea, and just doesnt get it. Like there is no connection there. He's so smart, I can't figure this out. I know if we could just "catch" it on accident once it would click but how? DH wants to try again because he has 16 days off work for Christmas break and so someone could be with him at all times, but I'm worried about the juice causing stomach upset again. I dont want to push him, but He's going to be 4 in April and NEVER peed on a potty? I have a 23 month old who is sitting on the potty and asking to wear underwear, so I wouldn't be surprised if he potty trains before his older brother.

Any suggestions? I dont want to mess anything up with this.
