starting solids and poop

We started solids when dd was around 5.5 months old-- a spoon or two of pureed rice, ragi (millet), or congee. Actually I wasn't keen on starting her so early, but my dh, in-laws, and family are all insisting on it. So to pacify them, we've been giving her some solids.

She has been exclusively breast-fed and is 6 months old now. Her poops get mucusy after having solids, and especially more so after having millet porridge (we live in India and this is one of the first foods they give baby). I'm wondering-- is mucusy poop normal? What kind of poop changes should I expect?

DS's poop after starting solids was basically just thicker and slightly darker in color.  The smell came later.  orngtongue.gif

The biggest thing of note was that he didn't poop for about two weeks the first time we gave him solids.  Then after the first one he was on a once a week schedule for a bit, and now he's mostly every 3 days, occasionally every 5.

Wow, 2 weeks! How did you know that he was okay?

My dd used to poop 5 times a day, and now down to once a day, or every other. She's nursing just the same if not more frequently.
