Hello!
For the past 2.5 weeks, my 6 month old son has been getting tiny red bumps in his diaper area. They've been all over the place - above his penis, on his butt cheeks, in the crease of his leg/groin. A few have become pimple-like, with a white head. He has had MRSA in his diaper area before (3 times in the first 8 weeks of life), so that is always my fear. All of these have been so tiny and come and go within the course of a day or two. I treat anything that begins to look pimple-like with tea tree oil and mupirocin just in case. Yesterday, he got a whole bunch of them above his penis and one big blotch/hive looking thing. All of that has cleared up today.
He does have a couple patches of dry skin, maybe eczema, on his face too. Does this sound like an allergy? I'm racking my brain trying to figure this out. Each day he wakes up clear I think maybe whatever it was is done, but they just keep popping up! I've seen a couple different docs at our peds office - one said it's probably MRSA, just keep treating it topically, one said it doesn't seem like MRSA, maybe a reaction to his diapers. So we switched to Huggies (he had been using Luvs), but he is still getting them.
He's on Similac Advanced formula, takes a daily probiotic, and has been introduced to some solids - rice, oats, avocadoes, banana, apples, sweet potato, squash, peas, and pears. At first I thought maybe it was a reaction to the ascorbic acid in the jarred pears because that was the last food introduced and the only jarred food I've given him, but he hasn't had any in the last 2.5 weeks, so I would think the spots should have stopped by now if that was it.
Thanks for any advice, suggestions, similar stories! :)
