Quick, cheap tree decoration?

I'm traveling for the holidays and need to decorate a tree in a day.  Need ideas that are quick and cheap with minimal items.

Thinking popcorn n cranberries garland.  Coffee filter snow flakes.

Google "moravian star".  Its an origami star that I made using strips of paper from old double sided maps.

Dehydrated orange slices.  Slice a few oranges and dry them at 200F in an oven for a few hours.

Take pine cones, drill a hole in them, insert eye screw, hang.

Peppermint candies in the plastic wrappers - you can make a garland by stapling or sewing the wrappers together end to end. 

Pine cones,acorns or nuts in the shell (spray painted gold or red and green if you want) with ribbon glued on to hang them.
