Ok...another problem. Purple Nipples?

Ok, I'm pumping to start a tash, I go back to work in a few weeks, though I have OS so I don't need to pump too much extra, I'm pumping 1x a day for about 20 minutes. I have scar tissue on both ipples from gashes I git from baby in the first few weeks that were fully covered by new skin about 6 weeks ago. When I pump, the scar tissue becomes inflamed and turns a dark purple/black color...wish I could post a pic, no idea if that's allowed...anyhow. I'm trying to figure out if it's a too-small/too-large flange issue or wgat. I use the lowest setting possible, never get anywhere near medium strength. Does anyone have any experience with this?

I don't know about purple nipples, but for me with oversupply, I didn't need to pumped. I would just stimulate my nipple a bit with my fingers or let the baby suck on the other side and then just hand-express.

Maybe that would take some of the pressure off your nipples!

That's actually an awesome idea, I SOAK the breastpad on the breast not being nursed on with the first 3 or 4 letdowns, so I will try that tomorrow morning. When I go back to work though, I'm going to have to drag that double electric with me and use it because I'll be away from baby for 9 hours a day :(

But awesome tip for building my stash!!

You could hand express instead of using a pump. Some women can get as much hand expressing as they can with a pump. If you go to google and type in Marmet technique you can find directions and videos on youtube.
