Help with BBT charting!

So this is our first month TTC #2!  I have never charted before, our first was a surprise.  The VIP tool on fertilityfriend.com has already pegged me as ovulating on CD8, and puts my period forecasted on CD 23!  I have never had a period shorter than 27 days, the average being 28.

I have had a cold and have not experienced much of any difference in cervical mucous this cycle.  Yet, I guess.  I am on CD 13 and started an OPK test yesterday because I was so shocked that FF said I had already ovulated!  My temp rose from 97.7 to 98.2 consistently around CD 8 and now has reached 98.5 for a day.

Am I all wacky because of sickness?  I test the same time every morning right when I wake up!

   Thanks for your help.

Oh and also!  The OPK yesterday was negative.

The sickness could definitely affect temperatures.  CD 8 is very early for Oing, especially if you don't have any history of Oing early.  Sometimes fertility friend will mark an ovulation day, and then change it after you get more temperatures (this happened to me last month).

If you haven't had any egg white cervical fluid or any other signs of ovulation that are normal for you, ....and you're sick, I would say there's pretty good chance that you haven't ovulated yet, and that being sick is messing with your temperatures.

I would say to keep using your OPK and watch for cervical fluid changes.

Also, don't be surprised if your ovulation is delayed a bit, due to being sick.  It may not delay it at all, but it's a possibility.

Thanks for all the info!

Here's the update:  I've consistently stayed in what seems to be the second part of the biphasic chart.

I'm now trying to decide if (a) maybe I did ovulate day 8, (b) we BD'd on CD 7 - is that enough to work out?  (c) my tender breasts and tiredness could be...pregnancy?!  and (d) which dpo I should take a HPT!

Any advice?!

Do you think I ovulated on CD 8?  We BD on CD 7, but that was the only time as we didn't know I was about to O.  Could I be pregnant?  My breasts are full and I'm tired.... if I did O early, I'm 9dpo.  When should I take an HPT?

I hope we're pregnant!!!

Hmm it's a very good sign!  Do you know how long your LP usually is?  I've become pregnant 3 times and all 3 times I've had spotting at 11 dpo.  But I also have a short LP and have spotting around that time anyway before AF arrives.  I hope you are pregnant!!

I have never had an 18 day cycle.  Started my period yesterday, it wasn't implantation bleeding at all.  I had really bad cramping all night.  Do you think I even ovulated last cycle?  I have been crying all day, sad that it might have been something else...

I'm really sorry to hear that. greensad.gif It's possible that just being sick threw off your cycle.  But it also really seems to me like maybe you had a chemical pregnancy, which means a very early miscarriage that would happen before your period was even due.  They are sooooooo common, most of them occuring without us even knowing.  But they are still very hard to go through.  There's no way to know if that was the case or not for you, but still sending you lots of hugs. hug2.gif

Im sorry to hear that it didnt work out this cycle. I have found that Fertility Friend took a few cycles for me before evening out and getting things more accurate. Good luck!

I am finally in the right mind to start new this year and this cycle. It was disheartening to have such an odd cycle and one that was quite possibly a chemical pregnancy. Trying not to stress, hopeful about using OPKs early this cycle in order to not miss ovulating (if I do O!).

Just came in from the front page, I'm sorry you had such a short cycle. greensad.gif

When you had a cold, did you mark off the "illness" or "fever" boxes in the data entry form? Your elevated BBT was likely from being sick. I'd guess that being sick threw things off and you had a short, anovulatory cycle, just a one-off. I am not sure why people are saying chemical pregnancy, unless that's just based on the symptoms? The symptoms you felt can be caused by your regular hormones, not just pregnancy. If you did ovulate, your LP was only 10 days with spotting, chances are very low there was implantation. Please try to not get down about a potential miscarriage so early in the cycle just based on symptoms. I've charted for 10 years and have seen people get so upset, convinced they had a chemical pregnancy, but then they go on to have other cycles just like that and realize that cycle was normal after all. Good luck this month!

Thank you for this response!  It made me feel better...I hope I ovulate this cycle.  This last one was so bizarre because I've NEVER had an 18 cycle in my life.  But it's amazing how quickly the next cycle comes back around - I'm on CD 8 already, anticipating hopefully some fertile signs and a chance to make a baby again.

No one ever told me there are so many ups and downs and obsessive peeing on a stick and WAITING that happens when you are SO ready for a baby!
