Dallas area info wanted

Thread Starter

My husband is looking at requesting a transfer to Dallas in the next month or so. I would love to know more about the area and what it has to offer.  I am also a student midwife and would love to find some one out there to continue my studies with!

Any info on the following would be great as well:

Non vax friendly doctors

Waldorf inspired child care?

Areas to live where there are local food markets/ farmers markets and friendly walking areas?

Hi,

I know a few non vax friendly doctors. Dr.  Bain @ Healthy Kids pediatrics in Frisco and Dr. Chartrand in McKinney. They're both really good. I don't know anything about Waldorf-inspired childcare though. There are several farmers markets- a big one in downtown Dallas and several through out the suburbs. There's a Whole Foods in Plano and in Dallas, several Sprouts and also a few Natural Grocers throughout the metroplex. Also in Dallas is Urban Acres, a natural food store with a co op option http://urbanacres.wordpress.com/ A lot of neighborhoods have walking paths- Plano has a big one, there's a few in Dallas too. I think you'll be able to find all the things you are looking for, but maybe not all in the same neighborhood. It's all pretty spread out here.

As for midwives, there are many great midwives in the area, but I don't know if anyone is looking to take on a student at the moment. There is one birth center down south a bit that focuses on teaching... http://www.cleburnebirthingcenter.com but it is about an hour from central Dallas.

Hope that helps!
