Today was my first prenatal appt. We couldn't hear the heartbeat -- boo. I'm only 10 weeks, so I know it's still within the realm of normal to not be able to hear it. My MW said to stop back next week for 5 mn and she'll have another listen.
I think that's normal. My midwife doesn't even try until 12 weeks, unless you ask her to. She says that she hears it most often between 12-14 weeks. Don't get discouraged! :)
Hun dont worry! I was 10 last week when my midwifes had to practically chase and corner the baby down to even get a slight hint of a heartbeat. Wasnt long enough to even get a count. They told me you can get a good one at about 12 weeks . Hugs, and I am thinking of you <3
just wanted to offer you some hope. Same thing happened to me last week. I was actually surprised that she even tried because with each of my babies I didnt hear the heart beat this early. Nevertheless, she was determined to find it so she did a quick ultrasound and baby was good as gold. I have a tipped uterus which always makes it hard to find so early so I'm guessing this is also the case for you too. Keep us updated!!
I was exactly 10 weeks at my last appointment and the midwife and I searched for literally 5 minutes or more without finding anything. We ended up having to switch to a stronger doppler, try different body positions and look around for another few minutes before finding it and losing it rather quickly! I'm sure you'll be hearing it next week! :)
Thanks, everyone. I was really hoping to tell my other kids on Christmas that they're expecting a sibling, but don't want to without having confirmation of a HB. So that adds to the disappointment.
LindyGirl~ Same exact thing happened to me today too. We searched for a while and didn't get anything. I am measuring 12-13 weeks though, so she thought all was well. I hope you get a do over soon so you can hear your sweet babe!!
