2 cats, 2 kids, 2 parents, 1 small studio -- Oh my!!

Greetings All!

I'm a stay at home mom of two adorable kids -- 2 1/2 boy and 6 month little girl -- and two elder felines that make sure to object to the smaller humans' presence on a near daily basis. We live with my husband in a studio (arghhh!!!) in Queens, NY. I used to be a trained, professional archivist in a previous life and, quite honestly, I miss the conversations with my office mates and eavesdropping on other departments while heading to the coffee machine. I also miss the coffee machine (ahhh... Keurig....). I've been lurking here long enough ( a la coffee maker eavesdropping) and decided to finally have some "me time" and join in on the conversation.

The big guy in my avatar? That's Henry. He still thinks he's the baby in the family.

LOL at Henry. He is very healthy. ;-)

I'm new here, too. Not really a lurker--I just usually jump right in. Hrm, I may be exposing my lack of wisdom.

I love living in small spaces. Unfortunately, my fiance likes big spaces in the burbs.

We have two children, too. I stay at home with them and home educate.

What do archivists do? I was a political fundraiser before I retired to Mommyness.

Splendiferous

He certainly is healthy, though his vet would say otherwise. We got him down to 22 pounds a year ago. Then the baby was born over the summer and he stress ate his way back to 30. If only there was Jenny Craig for cats...

Small spaces make for interesting living; I love it! My husband calls it our "nest."

It was always my desire to stay home and teach my kids, but we'll have to see what the future and our finances hold for us. Do you have a set curriculum or do you wing it?

An archivist is, in a nutshell, responsible for the physical and intellectual control of non-current records that have enduring value; we maintain, arrange, describe, and preserve information in all formats. Kind of like a librarian, but not quite.

welcome to MDC! Right there with ya on the small living space. I live with my DH (dear husband) and three kids in a 30 ft RV near San Francisco.

We use several curricula, and we create our own for certain topics, such as good citizenship, history, science, and art. I use a lot of books as references or stepping stones, and then I create flowy days. I'm naturally very uptight and structured, but I work super hard to make the whole experience organic and magical for my children.
