not feeling the baby move. « Back to Group Discussions

We haven't felt the baby move in two days, so I got in to see my family doctor. After my hysterical and tearful explanation, he didn't help matters by using the world 's oldest Doppler machine.
We couldn't find the baby's heartbeat.
So I'm actually updating from my phone while I wait for an emergency ultrasound.

Thank god. The doctor at the ultrasound place was awesome... except that he told me the gender... now I have to keep it a secret from DH for the next 22 weeks...

Congrats!!!  I'm so relieved to hear your good news.  You had us very worried.  Yay - a boy!  (Had you asked not to be told the gender and the Dr. slipped up?  or did you just assume they'd ask if you wanted to know before blurting it out?  Sometimes gender is obvious on screen though....heh heh)

I'm super glad everything is okay as well. I was in hysterics driving to the ultrasound clinic. Seriously, hyperventilating and driving is a bad idea.

I had asked not to be told and they slipped up. They were in the midst of training on all new equipment, so I think he was just really distracted.

Jynx, you said you are not going to tell your husband the gender of the baby....but are you going to tell him YOU know the gender?  I can't imagine keeping a secret like that until May!

What a day ladies! So so relieved for both you and Linnie that all Is well -- and two more BOYS! I also have to keep gender a secret from DH for 20 weeks. Oy.

How do you plan to do it? Play the pronoun game? Use girl one day and boy the next? Not mention the fact that you REALLY REALLY REALLY need to pick a boy's name now?

I'm freaking out about keeping this a secret. Especially since he really wanted a girl.

He knows I know. I'm terrible at keeping secrets, so I had to tell him at least that I know. 
We're one of those annoying couples that tell each other everything. And I mean everything. ;) This is going to be really hard.

I am just saying "baby" for now... I asked him about some boy names and girl names... He knows I know as well...And I must have been good because he grumbled something about me being obvious its a girl!? Maybe I overcompensated... I can't see how I'll last the next 20 weeks without messing up! I am going to put some pressure on him to let me tell him. Maybe he will change his mind and let me tell him. If we don't tell anyone else maybe he will be ok with it, I dont know. Poor DH has the flu or something right now so he/we are a little distracted and it's easier not to think about it.

Jynx. are you sure baby is a boy??? Because the default language for techs is to refer to babe as a 'he' - or so I was told years ago by a friend. I would most definitely NOT assume babe is a boy just by the use of 'he'...
