Can anyone recommend midwives for homebirth in Dayton Ohio?

Hello, I am new to this forum. My husband and I are not pregnant yet but hopefully soon! :)

We would like to have a water home birth or possibly, use Family beginnings at the Miami Valley hospital. However I am searching for a midwife that does not vaccinate.

Do certified midwives do home births? Can anyone recommend a good midwife that does natural home births?

It's your choice to vaccinate or not.  Even if your midwife or doc was pro-vaccine, you certainly don't have to be.  It's rarely an issue that even comes up during pregnancy.  That being said, with the birth climate as it is in these parts, no one is likely to send you contact info online for local CPM's, although there are many great ones near you.  Your best bet is to go to a La Leche League group (where you might find others who have had homebirths) or join the Cincinnati Homebirth yahoo group list.

Family Beginnings can certainly be a good option for someone who wants to have a natural birth in a hospital.  Dr. Stephen Guy and his practice (with one other OB and several midwives) would be worth looking into if you choose to go that route.

The other place to get connected with people who might recommend home birth supporters is through Dar A Luz.  As the previous poster said with the current climate, anyone who might have recommendations would have to know you or get to know you before giving those recommendations.

While homebirth is technically not illegal at least one person has been prosecuted for practicing medicine without a license and a local family was criminal charged when they called for medical transport.
