DD wants to nurse, but forgot how!

I'm hoping this has happened before.....I'm too busy right now to search the forum and look for old threads but maybe someone has a suggestion for me. Dd is 19 months old, was nursing 24/7 until my milk dried up a few months ago due to pregnancy, then continued to nurse sporadically, like maybe a few times a week, until about a month ago, maybe more like 6 or 7 weeks. Now that the new baby is here, she wants to nurse, has asked for it, climbed in my lap and pulled up my shirt. This is all fine with me, except she couldn't get any milk out--she just puckered up her lips like she was kissing me, not nursing. eventually she opened her mouth a bit and tried to latch on, but she couldn't get it right and got frustrated. she finally pulled off and pointed at my boob and said, "milk! more!" and just kind of gave up. Is it too late or is there a way I can help her latch on well so she can nurse again?

Maybe try putting your finger in her mouth and letting her curl her tongue around it and suck for practice? Other than that, no idea!

Congratulations to your new baby! Do you have a new daughter or son?
