thinking I'm having a reaction to local anesthesia- help!

2 days ago I had local anesthesia for dental work.   I have adrenal issues and have trouble sleeping anyway, but I have not slept and am not tired.  The night before last I slept for 3 hours.  Last night I never felt tired, slept 5 hours and am up at 5.  I know that when I was a child my mother would never give me codeine because she said it made me hyper and unable to sleep.  Anyone know what I can do to pass this out of my system and get some sleep?

There are two types of local dental anesthetic: lidocaine (essentially cocaine) based and one called Sulfa somethingorother that uses a sulfate as a preservative.  I've had mild reactions to the second.  So, nether are related to codeine (an opiate-type drug).  What I suspect you had was massive amounts of the cocaine-related drug in the local anesthetic.  This leaves my heart pumping madly right away and leaves me awake and alert for a goodly amount of time.  Did you get molars worked on?  Where they pumped massive amounts in all sides of your gums and inner lips?  Are you like me, not wanting to feel a single thing and asking specifically for lots and lots of anesthetic?  That's my best guess.  Not an allergy, but just high on cocaine!

(BTW, my mild symptoms from the sulfa-anesthetic are tickling lungs and reflexive cough, flushed cheeks.  I simply request they don't give it to me.  Some people like it because it is more local and shorter lasting.)
