No Cry SS Question

I used to have this book, but gave it to someone who was planning to CIO.  I guess i thought i wasn't having any more babies, and/or i knew what it said.  Now i have another baby and can't remember.

My recollection is that she says that if you get the baby to fall alseep without help you can carry on nursing as normal throughout the night if cosleeping, is that correct?  The implication seems to be that the first 'going to sleep' association will eventually take care of the other arousals?  (Never worked for me before, but just double checking what i remember about the book.)

Can anyone help?

Yes you're right, she does imply that the way you put them to sleep sets the stage for their nighttime sleep behaviour.

But...and I hate to say this as I'm a huge fan of Pantley......we finally got to a point where our 13 month old DS will lie down on the bed with one of us and fall asleep at the start of the night....and it made NO difference to his frequent wakings or how we put him back to sleep for the remainder of the night.

We do a combo of rocking or nursing back to sleep during the night.  Over time we have found there are a couple of times when he really does need to be fed, the other times my DH will rock him back to sleep.

Like any books out there, they are just theories and work for some kids but not others.
