Hugs mama.... I am in the same boat. I went from 108 to 156 in the last year. I don't know how to get it off and I am steadily gaining 2lbs a week. I have an appointment on Wednesday with the dr to see if it is my thyroid. The test came back normal but I don't feel the levels are normal for me so I am going to see if he can put me on a low dose of synthroid. I am a vegetarian and relatively active so it just makes no sense. I gained 18 in one month on a antidepressant. Its crazy.

Anyhow- I feel you. I don't know if I have before and after pics but ugh.... I feel for ya mama. I am also joining a gym next week and oh my clothes don't fit and its awful.

I will join you in trying to get it off.

Emile, the thyroid test that the dr ususally does does not tell the WHOLE story,   I will have to call my Aunt but there is another blood test that you have to ask for, I can't remember the name...ugh...  I will let you know.

Great job on taking the step to go to the gym!!!!!!!

Hello,

Maybe you would get some good suggestions or feedback if you gave some more detail - what about your life, if any, has changed in the past year?

Also, I wanted to tell you that you are totally adorable, OP, with or without the extra 40. :)

Thanks!!!!  That's what DP says, but I don't believe him...lol

I am not really sure what changed.  I have not been as active, but certainly not +40 pounds not active.  I did start taking cholesterol meds.  Tricor and lipitor.  I don't know what the side effects are, I don't read the side effects because I will get psychosematic symptoms....

I have an eliptical and I started to use it today, baby steps....

YOU CAN DO IT!  Don't diet, but make a life change, change the way you eat change the way you play!  Eat to live and play to have a blast!  I decided to start hiking and dancing.  I love how I feel right now.  You can totally do it!

I know some of mine is medicine related.... It's awful. I second that you are cute!!!

I looked better when I had 20 extra on but 40 xtra... oh that settled around my belly and I look pregnant.  like 4 months pregnant. Like the before pictures in those magazines lol.

I am joining a gym this week.

I think you need to read the package inserts on the medication.  I'm not an expert, but I would guess that a lot of the weight gain is a side effect of the medication, and if it is medicine-related, then I'm not sure if typical diet/exercise stuff will help take it off.   It's something you need to talk with your doctor about.   When did you start taking the meds?  Was it the beginning of the year or mid-year?  Do you have any pics of yourself before that time, so you can see if the weight gain really started after starting meds? (ie. if you started meds in May, would you have any pics from April, so you could see if you look basically the same in Jan-April and started gaining in May?)  Just a thought..
