ideas for holiday break for older kids

Thread Starter

Hi,

My five and seven year old are obviously on school break this week. They thrive on structure,(my daughter in particular) so I'm trying to make sure that we have enough stuff planned to stave off boredom and crankiness. They are extremely social and dislike playing alone, which can lead to problems. I need to keep everything free or very low cost. Obviously Christmas day is taken care of, and one day we're splurging and going to the children's museum.

My ideas so far:

reading

board games

indoor trampoline

library

painting

Anyone have any others that they'd like to share?

scavenger hunt/nature walk (it's between 1 and 10F here and we still go)

cooking/baking

If you have a digital camera and printer, my kids can spend hours scrap booking their trips (hike and/or museum)
