Burn Healing

Thread Starter

My DS got a burn on his arm, and right now he's got  Flamizine with gauze. It's 5 days old.  The doctor told me to put some sort of anti-bacterial cream that my pharmacist told me is too strong for a 5 yr. old. He suggested continuing with Flamizine on my own.

It's a slight 2nd degree and still raw around, so I'll leave it covered for another few days.  What is the best thing to do? Now when it's raw, and for when new skin starts forming, to prevent a scar.

Thank you, Sara

I heard about using confectioners sugar and cooking oil for wounds/burns a few weeks ago on public radio. Apparently it really works and seems safe for a 5 year old.
