I give all my instructors a holiday gift as well. One year I made 15 simple scarves, one year I sewed tea bag caddies out of old jeans and t-shirts. I gave then handmade lotion bars a couple years ago for valentines day. Still figuring this one out.

You're making good progress!

That's the easy part for me... it's using them where I seem to procrastinate.

Weeell, I've been too busy to start making anything yet. But I did do a mystery shop at a stationery store, and got a neat notepad with lots of printed designs inside, which I'm squirreling away for DD for Christmas. We're going through a spot of poverty, so I figure if the worst comes to the worst and we can't afford to buy DD anything for Christmas, I can start stockpiling up mystery shopping-acquired goodies for DD. There's a big department store I can potentially shop twice or more a month, and we get reimbursed for $12 or so, so I could get her some hair things, underwear... hmm, I wonder if they sell craft supplies? Never noticed. Anyway, it'll be something.

I made some ruffle-balls out of a tea-dyed net curtain for a friend's engagement party last week. If I hang them up with jute threaded with a few fake pearls (which I have), they'll be nice Christmas decorations. I quite like the "decomposing Victorian", Gibbous-y look for Christmas decor, with lots of ecru and old lace. I hope to make a Christmas tree skirt and some new stockings along those lines.

Well,I found something to work on.

Ive done.. umm.. next to nothing.. Well, next to nothing when it comes to Christmas crafting.. Ive done a lot of other things but nothing involving Christmas crafting. Got to get movin and grovin, specially since I know things will get hectic in October.

I have made about 10 lists now on what I want to make for people for Christmas. My most recent list has even been changed in the last 2 weeks lol so for right now this is what I am planning on making:

Christmas Gifts:

Mom: Dead Fish hat (knitting pattern - I really just learned to knit about a month ago)

Dad:No clue...

Household gift for my parents - potholders with my sons hand print on them

Husband: PJ bottoms, they will hopefully match with mine and DS and possibly a new little set for baby on the way. I want to do something else for him but just not sure what, we have a rule that we dont buy anything for each other.

DS: New quilt to fit his new bed, PJ bottoms to go with dads, pillowcases, and a dead fish hat - The fish hat is about 60% done, hope to finish it before this weekend.

Aunt and Uncle: Again I have no clue what to do for them.

Grandmother: Reusable shopping bag set

Mother in Law: Reusable snack bag set & set of knit facecloths

Father in Law: No clue yet...

Household gift for in laws - potholders with sons hand print on them

Best Friend: I was thinking a harry potter throw blanket size quilt

Her Hubby: Beer-soap set - done

Her 2 little girls (age 6 and 1):Pillow cases with Flag Banners with their names on them (pattern out of one yard wonders book)

Husbands Best Friend: Again no clue...

My moms - mom (dont really consider her special but give a small gift to keep the peace): Set of potholders

Coworker #1: Memory Board in the birghtest pink fabric I can find

Coworker #2 (if she still works there): She is 16, so I really don't know, but I doubt this will be a worry because I dont expect her to work there past September when school starts

I also plan on making cookies and bread and possibly some tea sets for everyone. But that will be a last minute thing, I plan to have all above gifts done by November 1st. I also want to try to make a quilt for the new baby and possibly some diaper covers, and maybe a little stuffed animal to put under the tree in case s/he comes before Christmas (which would be just fine with me!!)

I need to make a list. I gotta start on this now or else I will be coming up short on time like last year. I made a facebook group for sharing if anyone is interested in joining. https://www.facebook.com/groups/457897930910169/

I am so excited to have figured out a present for the 16 year old boy on my list! Now let's just hope it works.

Using this tut I am going to transfer images of his favorite band onto light weight canvas(?)or some other material and then turn each band member into a little stuffed guy.He is the type of fella who will think that's funny.

Anyway,I share the idea, not because I think that would necessarily work for the teenage boys on your list but because I think the technique could be used for so many other things.

Fingers crossed that it works because I can't imagine what else to make for this guy.

Well, I just had a brilliant idea. I'm going to make matching sailor outfits for DD, DS and my two little nephews. I'll give them to the nephews as an early Christmas present. Then we can take all the kids to the beach, dragging my sister along to take photos, and send photos off to DH's grandparents for their Christmas present; and maybe make a little scrapbook for MIL and FIL, as a combined present from us and SIL/BIL.

I'll pitch the idea to SIL and see what she says. I was going to make DS a sailor-suit this summer anyway; I made DD a sailor dress last year, but it's getting a bit short so I'll do a new one from a different pattern. I think it'd be cute! And better do it now, before SIL or I have any more kids... :p

I've been thinking of all of this lately...I know there will be a couple of cross stitched gifts and I ordered a 60" wide, one yard piece of aida cloth from Amazon to get started on them that should be arriving any day.

I finished another bag.

Anyone know a good source for big, plain white, inexpensive mugs?

i have been lurking on this thread for a good month or so....

Rere- they weren't white- but Target by the Keurig stuff has nice solid colored mugs- both big and small expresso ones- they were $1.99.  I am toying with picking those up and porcelain markers...

I am undecided on my kids- part of me wants to make quilts for them but DH wants to get them bikes...  Won't do both probably.

I really want to do stenciled initial/doily tote bags for my sisters and SIL and mom and mil.  I think that would be a great gift- I should start watching the sales for canvas tote bags.

I also want to do stuffed monsters a la pinterest for my kids and their cousins.

For the girl cousins I intend to make some fancy little headbands.

For the boy cousins....  No idea for a little something.

For the main gifts for my parents and MIL and SIL- homegrown chicken.  Kind of cheating for this thread though huh?

I love looking at everyones ideas :)
