-buy some supplies
-start on the car traveler for my nephew
-pick out a photo to use for my stepfather's present
-THINK really hard about what to make my husband(this could take all day)

Kim- Im making my son (hes a bit younger than yours, 21 months) a rag doll for Christmas.. Hes also getting a spaceship/alien play set and a fishing game (the fish have little magnets then there is a pole with a magnet to go "fishing" with).. I did a car mat last year and even my older two love playing with it. Im actually making a bigger one for his birthday since the children have problems all playing together with the small one I made.

Thanks for the ideas! I made the fishing pole & fish  last year for them. Of course I think they have broke the poles since then so I need to make another one. I think I settled on a pirate hook, hat, and eyepatch for him. He LOVES pirates and robots and this was the easier of the two lol.  I want to make a carmat as well but it did not make the cut this year since I am already behind. I think I will save that for a birthday gift.

I finished the car traveler for my nephew, two more bird ornaments for my sister, and I had a pic of my daughter printed that I will frame for my MIL!

Moving along!

I would like to finish up the doll clothes for my daughter but she has been stuck to me like glue lately.

Nice!

I wish I knew how to knit.

Me too. Well, I wish I knew how to knit well. I can knit, slowly and painfully, with odd bunches and mysterious gained stitches and twisty bits and wobbly edges. Knitting beautiful smooth fabric, though... that's an art.

I haven't done any holiday crafting for weeks. Oh, no, that's not true - DD and I made some potato-print wrapping paper and wrapped a few gifts. And DD did a cool Christmas card by sewing silver thread through holes in a dark-blue card to make a random pattern; that was fun.

But "proper" crafting, no. Ehh, I've had other projects. And I'm about to start a part-time gig scrutineering the end-of-year exams. If only they'd let me sew buttonholes while I did it! But no... the guidelines specifically say "no knitting", in fact, presumably because scrutineers tend to be of the stereotypical knitting demographic. :p

Ha!Yeah,I just haven't found the patience to practice knitting.

Ooo...wrapping paper...that reminds me that I am going to need to make up some more gift bags.I really should put that on my list or I will forget until the last minute.Maybe I should see of my daughter would like to do some potatoe prints on the fabric since what I have is not very "Christmas-y".

How do you get a gig like that?
rere- I taught myself to knit using a couple of websites. If you are ever interested in learning Ill post them orngbiggrin.gif I never practice, I just make things. If they turn out well I keep the project or give it away. If it doesn't turn out well I frog it.. I just like to keep my hands busy when the kids are playing and it does keep them busy. That and its nice and portable for the daily trips to the park so I don't get bored.

I know this lady who's an excellent resource for part-time odd little jobs. She homeschools and her kids are older (18 today, in fact), and she does a lot of sporadic work. She got me a twice-yearly gig helping at the Academic Dress Hire place too - giving out trenchers and gowns to graduands. Quite fun. Anyway, had the first exam this morning and it was fine - lots of boys needing the toilet and lots needing extra paper, which kept us busy. Scintillating stuff.

I took the girls old holiday skirts and rehemed them (I had deliberately made a larger hem so I could let it out later) so they now have skirts for the holiday parties we go to..

Need to step it up and start working on Christmas. I want to get it all done by the 15th of December so I don't have to rush when it gets close to Christmas. No all nighters Christmas eve this year orngbiggrin.gif

But really the main thing is that I have a space for making things. Now,it's not a nice space. It's a mostly unfinished attic but I can make a mess and leave it and come back to it when I get a chance.Plus I made space up there for my daughter.
And I totally think the same thing when I am making birthday/baby presents.Ha!
That owl towel is really cute.I made some hooded towels in the past and they were big hits.
Hmmmm...I was like you when I was in art school.Supplies were mainly what I wanted. What about if you decorated the cover of a sketch book for him?Or maybe a man bag for carrying his sketch books and supplies in?Maybe with one of his video game characters on it?

ROTFLMAO.gif I really, really need a specific place for working on stuff. So bad. I keep trying to convince my husband that he wants me to have a studio as much as I want to have a studio, because my stuff won't be all over the rest of the house! Because... unless company is coming over, or it poses some type of threat to the children, I am not packing up a project every time I have to stop working on it for a bit until it is done! Otherwise I would spend more time getting all my supplies out and put back again than I actually got to work on the projects. That, all all my different types of materials are stored all over the place in miscellaneous available storage space at the moment. Paints? Upstairs hallway closet. Sewing machine, material, and etc.? Upstairs spare bedroom. Woodworking supplies? Depends. Entrance hall closet, garage, or back porch. Etc. eyesroll.gif

Those are good ideas! Thank you. I think I may actually try to do a messenger bag for him. Now just to decide who to put on it...

That is so smart! If I ever get off my behind and sew skirts for my nieces or pants for my son, I'm going to remember this trick!

yeah,I really just need to get over it and practice.I have all these mamas in my life who bring their knitting with them wherever we are and are willing to help me.I need to take advantage of that.

It really does make a huge difference. And like I said,my space is NOT nice but it's space so it's great. The only problem is it's too hot for me to be up there half the year and the windows are too small to fit an airconditioner.Ahhh...well,I try to be thankful for what I DO have.

So I decided that I would make bird ornaments for each family in our homeschool co-op.What was I thinking?Well,at least I finally have a "portable craft"and I am getting some good practice on my hand sewing.winky.gif

My list for today:

At least 2 felt birds

Mail off the calendar kit my daughter is doing for my mom.

Send some printing for my husband to do.

Make a decision about salvaging my BIL's apron.

Find the iron on printer paper.

Start on my sister's advent calendar.

THINK of a present for my husband!!!!!!!!!

I know, these are mainly little things but they are the things I forget about.

Plus,if I don't think of a gift for my husband today it will then be time for my yearly rant about making him a gift.So really I'm trying to do you all a favor.winky.gif

I don't have a spot for mine other than the kitchen table.. Hubby is getting tired of it and is looking for a good used sewing table that will fit in the tiny space we have in the bedroom that is free.. That way I can sew and then when I have to leave it I can close the door.. Oh and then we can have dinner without having to push my sewing aside redface.gif

My list for today:
- work on picture outfits.. we will hopefully do pictures on Sunday and I haven't even started on the skirts/dresses for it
- finish pompom scarf that I haven't finished yet
- start the next scarf
- knit a horse wash cloth for my daughter (my children are weird and don't like sharing wash clothes so I'm making them all ones they know are "theirs")
- finish the rag doll and doll clothing I have cut out and waiting for me

This weekend I hope to get a bunch of things done but we will see.
