I am a 27 year old woman in a monogamous relationship with my partner of two years. I have had one pregnancy that was not viable and was devastated when I lost the baby. I fell I will never heal from this until I am blessed with a child. I do not want to have intercourse with a man and am seeking alternative methods for conception. I have been reading up on the "turkey baster" method and have read a lot of reports of viable pregnancies after using sterile syringes. Does anyone have any advice or stories of successful pregnancies with this method. Thank you and God Bless.

hi candygirlinc

if you're really looking for information, the best place to ask would be the Queer Parenting forum

There are new monthly 'Trying to Conceive (TTC)' threads where you can find lots of useful information about this topic and related issues.

Come on over!

Hello! I'm also in a LTR with a woman.  We concieved through the assistance of a fertility clinic using IUIs.  After that pregnancy we tried to do the home insemination thing which was a major clusterwhuck.  We did ONE round of that and I said no to doing more.  We're going back to the clinic for our first round of insems in January.

I've known other couples who have been successful with home inseminations but whether its because of the inexact process of DIY-ing it or because of poor timing or fertility issues, they've taken quite a few rounds to get pregnant.  If you're using frozen sperm from a bank, it is probably going to be the most expensive part of the process so it makes more fiscal sense for me to go to the doctor and get it done in one or two months (fingers crossed) as opposed to 6+ months at home.

Good luck to you!

I agree with Anna- check out the queer parenting forums. The ladies over there are so informative and supportive.
