Cleared out our Linen Closet/Medicine Cabinet, did a quick lookover in my closet, & did some clearing out of Fridge and began work on Pantries and Food cupboards:

22 drugs

7 empty pill bottles/boxes

3 Christmas Sweaters

2 mattress pads

1 pillow

2 pillow cases

2 pairs boots

3 pairs of shoes

2 Christmas decorations

1 bathing suit

101 items of expired food (GEEZ!!! And I'm not done yet!)

3 very full kitchen trash bags taken out, one black trash bag full of donations

Praying I can keep the decluttering up in 2012... I got a strong start in 2011, but then petered out.. but my HOME could really use 2012 less items possibly times two or three..

Oh we are starting early? Well I guess why not as I have finished the 2011 one, so I may as well start today instead of waiting a couple of days.

This year I am going to focus on selling as much stuff as I can.

Starting off with one large vase I just sold on ebay!

totally in this year - I did the 2011 one but lost count and interest part way through the year. I'm pretty sure I met the 2011 items though, as I've gotten rid of a lot of stuff. Still have a lot to go, so count me in for 2012!

1 sewing machine. i had dragged it through 5 houses and 2 countries, and never used it. it just sat and took up space. i posted it on craigslist and it went to a little girl who is just learning how to sew. i'm glad it found a home where it will actually get used.

More clearing out and cleaning up today!! Our office is the cleanest it's been in ages!! Of course, we are doing the whole box it all up and move it elsewhere and then go through one box at a time thing....so we've really got a ways to go till we've gone through everything!!

Anyway...today's total out of the house (gotta take 'em to Half Price and see if I can get anything for them)...

joining! dd and i have been living with my mother during the divorce and while waiting for my ex to refinance our old house so i can get my share of the equity. finally, we're able to start looking for our own house! i'll count things that go out but will have to add things back in that i need due to starting over (cookware, dishes, linens, some furniture). would you count those things or just accept them as necessities as part of a functioning household? also need to be a lot more careful with our food!

I'm in! I don't expect to make it all the way to 2012, but I've done the 2010 & 2011 threads and made the goal both years. I didn't expect to make the 2011 goal and I passed it. More, I'm still going strong. So whether or not I make the 2012 goal, I will have a cleaner, saner, less cluttered home. We will be moving this year, so that should help.

I'll start with 1 expired food item.

Don't you agree it's rather amazing and incredible that we have thrown out THOUSANDS of things over the last two years?! 

I just recalled how in 2010 I aimed to double the goal and I did...I threw out 4020 things, so that means I have now got rid of over 6000 things from my home since May 2010!   

I don't know if I am more shocked that I even owned that much stuff in the first place....

Came home and DH had tossed a bunch of stuff that was taking up room in one of our cabinets.  I asked how many items and looked at me funny then did the math and said about 12 I guess... I'm taking it!

Hi, I'm joining! I definitely want to declutter, organize, and simplify our home! It's not terrible now, I just know it could be better. I just put 2 big items (a refrigerator and an oven range hood to be specific) on Craigslist that are taking up a lot of space in our garage. Hoping to go through toys this week since new toys came in with Christmas.

+124 items from previous de-cluttering.

My back and legs ache so much today that I don't think I can do much more, but I'll try to do simple purges as I walk around the place.
