2012 in 2012 - Page 11
So, I am totally addicted to de-cluttering. I can't stop myself now!
Last night I started going through my old clothes that are now too big but that I was saving assuming they'd fit again at some point. I am keeping some of them, but very few items. I've got to consign:
9 pairs of jeans
7 pairs of dress pants
Total: 41 items
That's a whole wardrobe!!
New Total: 263/212
$42.00 (and hopefully more when I finally sell the video games, book on tape, and all these clothes!)
Wow ladies, you all are so impressive with this! I wish my progress was - today, I brought 1 outfit - pants and a shirt to my nephew. So new total is 9/2012. Hmmph.... gotta do more.....I get caught up in the WHERE something should go - I don't like putting something in the garbage that could be repurposed but then what/who/where should it go??? Maybe I am thinking too much about this??
4 pairs pantyhose (never ever wear pantyhose, these dated back to my college choir days)
3 pairs old ratty underwear
3 rolls double-sided tape (already have more rolls than we need; it's only used for hanging window insulation, and we get a new roll each time we buy more window insulation)
Old pair of sandals
5 shampoo samples
5 items from back porch thrown out by husband
Thing of lotion
I used to think really hard about where everything should go. These days I donate anything usable to Volunteers of America, figuring they'll take practically everything, and throw out anything I'm sure they won't take. In the past I've had some more specialized donations and worked to track down a specialized place (like for fancy yarn I was getting rid of) but that was also before my daughter was born when I had more time. I try not to stress about this too much though, because it's a way to get paralyzed and because really, a lot of the random stuff we discard is not all that useful/worth all that much anyway.
Today I sold a glider with ottoman and gave away a cradle with bedding and a breastfeeding pillow.
I also started a bag for my upcycling friend.
I am checking in so I keep myself accountable.
I loved green_momma2007's before & after photos. I took some and will post when I have the after. I'm too embarrassed to post the befores without the "yay, I cleaned my room" ones. :)
So now I am at 322/2012 with $175.
8 items trash (including 2 large bags of pork fat back from the freezer that i have not rendered and is now at least 2 years old)
80 tea bags out to the worm bin (unused, sitting on the counter in their boxes for the past year and i'm never going to drink them; counted each because we went through each box and took everything out of bags to give to worms and recycle the paper)
14 stuffed animals getting out!
