I've lived with fibro for most of my life and desperately want to 1) get the pain under better control and 2) get off the pain med train I'm on (ibuprofen/acetaminophen combo and Vicodin, at least one of those at least once a day). I do need to improve my diet and be more active and am working on that. Diet and pain are a vicious cycle, for sure--I feel like crap and don't have the energy to cook decent meals so then I feel worse because of what we're eating.

I'm interested in trying a supplement to help and malic acid, 5-HTP and MSM are ones that we can afford. I'd really love to hear people's experiences with any of these before making a decision and ordering something next week after payday. What worked for you? Did you have any issues/side effects with any of these? Any other suggestions for supplements or herbs, keeping in mind that we're low income? I'm taking some things that have the potential to help with the pain but haven't so far: vitamin D3 (5000 IU a day), magnesium (250 mg a day but can increase it) and Levoxyl (75 mg a day).
