Not yet available in the US....

Thank you for the link! Sounds interesting. It's not yet available here in the US---but I live close to the border so will try to buy it in Canada sometime this summer. Here some info from the website on how to get the book:

"The US version of the book is being published by Random House under the title Who's Raising Our Kids and is scheduled for release June 5th of 2005. In the meantime, US customers can purchase the Knopf Canada version through amazon.ca. Editions de l'Homme are expected to publish the French translation by February, 2005"

For sure

I happened across your post, and thought I might share my comments on this book, which I posted at http://www.intouch.ca/miniato/neufel...nalReview.html almost a year ago. Great read!

I have not read the book yet but I intend to buy it. I really love Dr. Neufeld's work, I heard him speak a few years ago and was really impressed. I wonder why the American version is going to have a different title? It (Who's Raising Our Kids) sounds so much more scary and reactionary than Hold Onto Your Kids. I know that he is very supportive of attachment style parenting.

I am reading this and loving it. I got it from chapters.ca and they had it to me in about 5 days (weekend included) down here in Alabama. Impressed me. But the book is amazing, way passed impressed. I would love to discuss it. I am finding it life changing, despite not even having finished it yet.

Shantimama,

Did you find many of the suggestions different that you parent? If so, how have you implemented changes?

I found that "collecting" my children was different from what we do now. I am trying to make changes, especially with my oldest. Her daddy takes her to school and I pick her up. I would like to have a ritual to keep her close to both of us, no matter who she is dropped off by or picked up by. Something to keep us with her.

I am also seeing things others are doing and mentally evaluating their actions to see if they are acting to keep the attachment intact or not. I wish it were so easy evaluating and changing my parenting.
