My husband and I are hoping for a peaceful homebirth for our firstborn, sometime in late June or early July. This little emoticon pretty much sums up how I'm feeling:joy.gif

Does anyone have a personal recommendation for a great midwife in the DeBary / Lake Mary / DeLand / Deltona / Sanford, Florida area? I've looked through pages of archives here, and can't find anything specific to our area and (as many people have pointed out) it's pretty hard to do research on caregivers' track records and much of it depends on personality, too smile.gif

Thanks!

I live in Volusia County and I use Karen Kennedy Tyus, Agape Midwifery. (http://agapemidwiferyservice.health.officelive.com/default.aspx)I believe she lives in the Deland/Lake Helen area but her midwifery clinic is in Holly Hill, just north of Daytona. She is by far my favorite MW. I absolutely lover her and can't say enough good things about her. Looking forward to a homebirth with her sometime in the next month or so. :) She's very down to earth and nurturing.

I have also used Michelle Gawne with Heart 2 Heart Birth Center in Sanford for my last birth. (http://www.h2hbirthcenter.com/)I really enjoyed her as my MW and my birth, but she doesn't really do home births that often (only if no MW is on staff at the center, so you're taking a chance) and I really wanted a home birth this time so I opted for a midwife who only does home birth.

There is also a midwife in the Sanford area named Kaleen Richards. I've never met her.. so I can't speak from personal experience, and I believe she has her own birth center. I have heard that she can do hospital births as well... so in case of transfer she can stay with you. She also does home births. http://www.treeoflifebirthfl.com/

Also, Kelli Johnson I believe is out of Winter Park. http://www.amothersnaturemidwifery.com/ -

Hope this helps! thumb.gif
