We have like 100 books! DD reads ALL DAY LONG (or should I say I read?) She loves books and I'm totally on board with that!

Cristeen...I love the books idea. I have been adding a bunch of those to our amazon registry. Thanks for the great recommendations!!

Gross: http://www.nytimes.com/2011/05/18/business/18chemical.html?pagewanted=all

I wish there was some way to know which products contained this stuff!  Good reason to minimize gross foam products!

We have a natural sap foam latex mattress and co-sleep so at least we don't have to worry about that LOL I made my moses basket mattress too. (with organic wool)

When I was pregnant with DD I read an article about how 90% of the infants under 6 m/o tested had flame retardants in there liver suspected from the mattress.

DD does have a regular twin bed mattress (that she doesn't sleep in yet) but we got it used (and for free!) so it has at least off gassed. I try to stay away from new things to tell you the truth. Everything off gasses...We have a good air filter too.

Yeah, we tend to get our mattresses from ikea, which I think have a different flame retardant then the nasty stuff... my littlest has a 100 percent wool mattress that I made!  Its like a futon, and very cozy.

I'm thinking my breast friend nursing pillows are foam, I think boppys are a different stuffing... but still... being a parent is hard enough without having all this toxic crap!

I've been trying to convince DH for years of the importance of an all natural mattress.  He just doesn't like the price tag.  But I'm going to stick to my guns for our King, which we'll be buying in the next few months (hopefully).  I don't need all that crap invading my body while I'm pg.

we bought an all-natural Talalay latex mattress a couple months ago and it took some getting used to, but I love how simple and comfy it is. it cost a lot more than I ever thought I'd spend on a mattress (this coming from a person who had never actually bought a mattress before this one - we just had hand-me-down spring mattresses) but we figure it's supposed to last about 20 years, so maybe it's ok?

Yeah no kidding! We got our boppy off freecycle so I'm not worried. It is really hard though considering the FDA does not have our interest in mind....with anything really!
