Five month old crying/fussing when offered potty

I started doing occasional EC w/DD last week. The first couple of days, she did great. We caught some pees and poops and all was well. Then she started fussing every time I would offer the potty. We haven't had any catches in a couple of days because every time I put her on the potty she starts crying and straightening out her legs trying to push off the potty seat. Today, I knew she needed to poop and I offered her the potty and she kept trying to get off of it. I put her diaper back on and two minutes later, she pooped. Should I stop offering for a bit or keep offering? I typically offer at diaper changes, when she first wakes up and when she is cueing me that she has to poop.

Hi Annie!!!

With dd1 when she acted that way I would offer another place/way to elimenate. She was really sensitive to the cold potty, etc. Sometimes she wanted to be dangled and sometimes she wanted the potty just depended on her mood. If she refuses one and you are certain she needs to go then try another. Carrying dd around the house on the potty helped a lot as she didn't want to be missing anything (basically you but the bblp on your hip and have your arm (i use my left) wrap around and holding hte potty while her body is cradled in your arm pit. It works great and I can get things done while she sits.

Good luck

Try what PP suggested (offering different recepticles) and if she still fusses, then just back off for a few days or a week and try again.  With DS, he NEVER liked the potties (still doesn't at 17 mos) so I would either sit on the toilet with him (you can find good holds on thediaperfreebaby.org) leaned back against me with my hands holding his thighs or I would hold him similarly and let him pee in the sink.

Hi TBM! So good to see you in a different part of the boards!

I think she just didn't like the cold potty against her skin. Today I started holding her facing away from me and I cradle her thighs. I caught both of her post-nap pees! And no fussing!
