Kalamazoo: Borgess Midwives??

DH, the kids and I just moved back to Kalamazoo. We've not had children here, so I'm not sure of "who's good" and "who's not". Our insurance covers Borgess hospital and the OBs/Midwives that deliver there. Is there anything you can tell me about the midwives? or OBs? I'm planning a VB2C and in the past have had issues with care providers "letting" me go past my due date!

Hi! I gave birth in Kalamazoo after college (go broncos!) and now live in Ann Arbor. Birth Kalamazoo is the BEST resource around for all information on pregnancy/birth/baby/breastfeeding. I took a natural childbirth class with Jessica English (doula) held at the Kalamazoo Center for the Healing Arts (by Wal-Mart). She was wonderful and so was everyone else I met. They have a doula (can't remember her name offhand) she leads a support group for woman who have had c-sections and for woman seeking a vbac. Birth Kalamazoo will know all about Borgess midwives :)

Mine was born at Borgess with Trinie VanderPloeg in April 2006, and we had a great experience from start to finish. I think Trinie has moved out to the Borgess hospital in Plainwell but it would be worth going to see her out there for prenatal checkups. She is really positive and sweet, and a good listener who also gives great hugs.

smile.gif I have my first appt with Trinie on the 9th. I had a HORRIBLE experience during an appt and the office right next to the hospital, so I switched to the Plainwell office to see Trinie. I am also hiring a doula for my VB2C.
