The Happiest Baby on the Block?

Someone recommended I get the book or DVD "The Happiest Baby on the Block".  Is it worth buying?

Yes! Well, the book at least. Dh read the book aloud to me while I was nursing, but it would have been easier to watch the movie. IMO, its the best babycare book ever.

I watched 5 minutes of the DVD for the 5 S's.  Best advice I have EVER gotten, and it truly worked.

I read it with my second, who was a very challenging baby. He would cry for hours and hours. Later we realized he had sensory issues. But this book helped us TENFOLDS. Definitely recommend it.

I found Karp's ideas about a fourth trimester interesting and that argument helped me defend my babywearing and cosleeping practices to highly critical relatives.  I never actually found the techniques particularly useful.  I liked Sears a little better for that.  DH got a lot from this book though.

This book helped me so much with our first son.  The 5 S's work wonderful definitely worth purchasing.

I even purchased his book "Happiest Toddler on the Block", I was very disappointed in the second book :(.

this books is on my shelf but i have never read it.  i must have picked it up at the thrift store for  .25 cents or something.  glad to hear it worked so well for people.  you all are making me want to check it out.

Isn't it available on Netflix instant streaming? If so, we'll watch it. My postpartum doula trainers swore by it for recommending to new parents because of how well the techniques work for most babies and how easy they are to remember when sleep deprived. And the techniques aren't controversial like CIO. I do also really like the idea of the 4th trimester.

It's not streaming on Netflix, unfortunately. A friend of mine just gave me the DVD and I thought it was amazing. I love the way Karp really respects the baby in the whole thing. It's entirely baby centered and I can't wait to try it with my new little guy. I wish I would have had this information with my first who was very challenging. I've seen it at our local library. That might be a good resource if you don't want to buy it.
