Infant Advil causing bad breath - stomach ache?

My son is getting his 2nd molars and has been absolutely miserable.  We avoid medications but had been giving him very occasional doses of Tylenol.  I like to get the dye free to avoid extra stuff and so that it doesn't stain everything when he tries to fight taking it.  So we ran out and I got the Advil instead because I couldn't find the Tylenol dye-free.  The last couple of days he has had the most awful bad breath and I couldn't figure it out - was starting to worry about cavities but it came on very suddenly.  Brushing did nothing to help it.  So I just gave him a dose of the Advil before he went to sleep and then it dawned on me that is what is causing it!  So now I am making myself sick with worry- is it eating away his stomach lining?  Is there anything I can do to soothe his stomach when he wakes up?  Or anything I can do to repair any damage?  Has anyone else had this connection?

No, but I remember my daughter's breath smelling like poop after a season of bad colds (at about 15-18mos).   Blech!  My friend's son's breath smelled like this, too.  That said, my other daughter is allergic to ibuprofen, though it causes reflexive coughing, more obviously allergy-related.  I'm afraid not much help-- sorry!
