Looking for reassurance

Thread Starter

Back story: was on pill BC for 2 yesrs. did one  year of depo. stopped in jan '10. switched to high hormone pill. stopped pill october of 2011 because period never happened. negative tests. nov - no cycle, neg test. dec- no cycle on time neg test. dec 25-28 period. Dr during 3 1/2 month span of NO cycles said 'no big deal, your young i dont worry yet'.

I was concerned because with or without BC i have been a 28 day cycler since age 16.

Period i just had was icky.

How long until I should be able to track if i want? we are trying while not checking dates.  How has this worked for others?

any advice I need? This is baby number 1 and first time ever trying.

(where would I put a thread asking bout a link to a short list of abbreviations and what the sybols mean?I am new here! I have enjoyed my stay so far!)

Hi Oni!  First of all, you can check out this thread: http://www.mothering.com/community/t/522590/abbreviations-acronyms-emoticons for a huge list of abbreviations. :)

Your body may take some time to regulate again after being on the birth control.  Because they change your hormones while on them, it often can take many months for your hormones to go back to normal again after you go off of them.  I started on birth control pills when my son was around 9 months, and went off of them when he had just turned 2 (also was on birth control pills for a few years before trying to conceive my son).  I had no idea they would affect my hormones so much, even now when I have been off of the birth control for almost a year.

You may want to start charting your temperatures so you can see what your body is doing (see if you're ovulating, how long your luteal phase is, etc.).  Fertilityfriend.com is a great site to do this.  If you find your cycles continue to be irregular, then you can research different ways to try and help your body regulate.  One herb that may help with this is Vitex.

I hope your hormones regulate soon without any intervention needed!
