I'm still a few years from moving from back to Canada but since I keep hitting a brick wall when it comes to being trained while I am away so I can work when I get back I'm trying to sort out how I can best get into the UBC midwifery program. I'm currently a doula, CBE, breastfeeding counselor and part of a natural birth support and information group. I am considering doing the AAMI course and spending some time at birth centers in Bali, Africa and Mexico to build some practical experience. At the moment I don't have chemistry or math 30 so I will also complete those.
Is any of that going to give me an edge? Is there something else I could be doing? Any tips or suggestions would be very welcome.
