Bed-Sharing with Dad only?

I'll spare you the details but my 7mo is slowly killing us with sleep deprivation and screaming.  Bed-sharing doesn't workfor me for more than a couple of hours because I wake up with bad back pain and DS is perma-latcher so I can't change positions.  He seems to sleep well with just my husband though.  I'm fine with sleeping on the couch and just feeding him when he wakes at night but I worry about safety.  DH curls around him just like I do but I worry that he's not as sensitive to DS's wakings as I am.

Any thoughts?  Does anyone else sleep with this arrangement?

At 7 months I'd bet your little one has the ability to move away from dad as needed and will wake if he gets uncomfortable. Make sure Dad knows to keep little one in a same position a nursing baby would be in...at his chest level without being propped up on a pillow. Because baby won't be turning into him to nurse perhaps get rid of the pillows not currently in use by Dad as he sleeps.

What a good Daddy to take over the non-nursing nighttime parenting!

I leave my 8 month old to sleep with just his dad fairly frequently when I'm tending to my older son (he's the one with the night waking issues, not the baby). I know how my husband sleeps and that he is very in tune with DS even while he's asleep. I don't worry about it at all but whether it's safe for *your* family is something only you can discern, of course.
