Little red nose

My son (30 months) unfortunately, has a nice head cold from traveling this holiday.  He is getting better thankfully, but his nose is so sore from blowing and wiping.  What do you all suggest to relive that discomfort.  I was thinking shea butter but wanted to see what others recommend.

Thank you!

I use a dab of this diaper cream from the jar I've labeled "Not BUM!"  I use it for the small little dry spots that pop up here and there...

Thank you for the reply.  I did think about using zinc oxide.

We buy simple vitamin E oil at Trader Joes. I just got over a rough head cold and it was the only thing that didn't smell or burn. I had to apply it every couple of hours by dabbing some on my finger and rubbing it around. I think that would be the most tolerable/comfortable option for a child.

Fantastic idea.  Thank you!

I appreciate the thoughts.

Feel like I cannot think these days!

Olive oil or Vaseline are good around here.  I do not use the Kleenex with aloe & all that stuff, but some folks swear by it.

It's also good to take a nice warm bath/shower and blow away since you don't have to wipe with a cloth or anything abrasive.

Good luck and happy noses.

If possible, apply breastmilk.

I should explain, I myself am experiencing a cold. My first in years, I was in denial but I am coming to grips with it! The BM takes the sting and hurt out of the raw chapped skin on my nose. I try not to blow my nose for a little while after I apply it. It does work though, it's pretty amazing. It makes my skin feel supple not as though it is ready to crack and all dry. It also no longer stings.

I swear, all these suggestions were in my head I just couldn't pull them out!  Holidaze perhaps?

Yes!  Breastmilk is still possible!  Thank you!

Steam baths and showers have been a plenty this week.

As far as future prevention goes, I love the aloe Boogie Wipes. We usually use them or cloth wipes that I put warm water on. Boogie Wipes are just more convenient.

I second using the aloe Boogie wipes for prevention, I have noticed a big difference on my little one's nose. To help with redness and chapping I use Badger Balm.
