I need some help!

I have 3 daughters, all of whom have dealt with alleriges.

DD1 couldn't tolerate dairy for her first 10months., was on soy formula.

DD2 was FTT, on Elecare, intolerant to gluten, soy, pineapple, dairy and a variety of other foods. She outgrew everything by 15 months.

DD3 I thought we were in the clear. I bf'd for 9 months, then she went to dairy formula, no issues. Switched her gradually to whole milk at a year, her poops increased in frequency and burn her bum severely. She screams and almost cant catch her breath it hurts so bad. We have the same issue with soy milk. She has always been tiny except at birth. Now she is 15m and 20lbs soaking wet. She has gained 8oz in 3 months. She loves to eat, I feel like she is always hungry so we cut the dairy and soy and have her on rice milk. Everything was gravy, except now she is having middle of the night blow outs, and poops during the day with mucus. I'm not sure if there is blood? She gets childrens probiotics once a day. I feel like we might be heading toward a Ped GI referral? Or am I just reading too much into this and just deal?

Hmm...first, does the probiotic contain dairy or soy? Have you cut *all* dairy and soy or just obvious dairy and soy? (Like she doesn't have foods like milk, cheese, or soy milk, tofu, etc, but what about processed foods w/dairy or soy ingredients?)

Also, blood in her stool would either obviously be blood, or peppery specks, depending on where the bleeding was from. Higher up in GI tract would result in pepper-looking specks.

I would recommend trying a food journal to start and seeing if you can pin point something else she is eating that coincides with mucousy poop and other symptoms. Also, it usually takes at least three weeks for dairy and soy to work it's way out of the system. I would try eliminating *all* dairy and soy (if you haven't already) and then waiting a few weeks to see if it improves.

Could she be allergic to any of the other top 8 allergens (milk, soy, wheat, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, fish or shellfish)? Of course, as you know she can be allergic to anything, but those are the top culprits.

If you do end up going to the GI doc, you'll want to be armed with as much info as possible before you see a specialist, just from my experience.

I hope you find answers soon!

Try cutting out the probiotics and see what happens, or switch to a different brand.  Probiotics themselves can be hard on the GI tract for some people.  Switch brands, or try other foods that contain natural probiotics, like sauerkraut (not every child's cup of tea, but my dd loves it since toddlerhood).  That might not blast her system like supplemental probiotics do.  Of course, it could be that your brand does contain dairy.

Her probiotic is dairy free. As of right now, she is just having mucous that is clear with undigested food as stool. No actual stool is present :(

Ummm..... Ped GI, definitely.  This sounds beyond allergies.  Way, way beyond.
