Fly by post!

OMOM - Congrats!!!!  I'm so glad the baby is here and you got your waterbirth.  Can't wait for the story and pictures!  Okay I'm impatient.  Pics first!  Story later!!

Mami - Four months old?  Are you sure!  I can't believe it.  She's grown so much and looks so adorable sitting in her bumbo.

Welcome glasses and poiyt.

Great photo Desert.

And Isa, sinus infection!  Yuck.  We've just finished that in this house.  I was sick for oh about 12 days.  Don't wish that on anyone and I hope you kick it's ass soon.

Hello to everyone I missed!

AFU - It's insane here cause is the baby's first birthday tomorrow.  It's her actual birthday and we're having her birthday party on the same day.  With that in mind, I need to take advantage of the super long nap she's going to have (hint, hint baby) to get her cake all whipped up.  I'll post pics later.  But really, our babies Wehrli and Library are going to be one!

just popping in to say:

CONGRATS, OMOM!!! sounds like it was a wonderful experience! enjoy that wonderful li'l babe of yours... can't wait to see and hear more!

qmama, flying solo with both kiddos, ey? brave, indeed. i recently did lots of reading on traveling with kids (we were going to take a vacay this wknd but ended up buying a new second vehicle), and came across this blog: http://flyingwithchildren.blogspot.com/ It's written by a former stewardess that has, like, 3 kidlets and traveled frequently with them. really good stuff from both perspectives!

gumshoe, i just can't believe it... oh, and unless you saw on pinterest, i decided to make banana bread cake with avocado icing, thanks for the inspiration!

isa, i'm penciling in the date....

hello to everyone else i missed and welcome to the newcomers! i'm ever busy with the almost walking boy... he has been so close for so long but just doesn't go for it. shrug.gif it's still hard to keep up with him... and the dishes lol.gif

here's a couple of pics from st. patty's day. his grams and pops got him the stroller for his bday but couldn't resist giving it early, since he'll never know the difference.

Wow Wehrli! That kid got some FANTASTIC birthday gifts! I love both that wagon stroller thing and the kitchen is so so wonderful. I am way jealous of it. He just gets more handsome by the day!

Happy Birthday to all these babies! Incredible.

Hi everyone,

I threw out this question over at Queer Conceptions too, but I'll also ask it over here. It's on behalf of a friend whose husband got some bad news about his count...

If anyone here checked their donor sperm under a microscope:

"Did you examine sperm for motility or count under a microscope? If so, what kind of microscope did you use, how did you prep the slide, and what power did you use to look at the sperm with?"

Thanks a ton!

EDIT: Cancel this. She found her answer.

folks I need help.

We like the names Zeben and Sage for our little girl and can't decide.

Can you tell me what you think about them?

I love the name Zeben - don't know if its an okay girl name. We both like Sage too... feeling stuck :)

Thanks all for the advice, well-wishes, empathy, etc for flying with the kids. Wehrli, I'm gonna check out that site and Starling, I'll be sure to pick up some Rescue Remedy the next time I'm out. When I first saw your post, I was sure the site was going to direct me to a big bottle of vodka or something! I'm getting excited for the trip and starting the planning process early--I'm already starting to pick up new little toys and such that my 4yo can have when she's on the plane. I think I'll bring DP's Kindle Fire and preload it with some movies.  I don't know if I need a wifi connection to watch them in flight, but I'll check on that one.

Wehrli (and Library and Gumshoe!), OMG has it been a year already? I love the kitchen, by the way!

Sara, Forgot to send a hug over your way for your scare last week. No more drama til you're full term!

Baby is waking here, sticking her tongue out and making grunting noises even though she just got off the boob 5 minutes ago. Hoping I can race downstairs and get the diapers into the dryer before she lets loose with pick-me-up wailing. It's so good to be cloth diapering again. I just couldn't do it for the first 7 weeks, but now that we are in our groove, I feel much more ready to tackle it.

update tonight

omom: I LOVE zeben! I say let that cute little girl rock Zeben! How about Zeben Sage and if she doesn't care for Zeben as she gets older, she can go by Sage! Just my two cents.

OMOM--I like them both, too, but I lean more towards Sage--One thing I love about my first name that I hated about my old last name is that everyone can spell and pronounce it correctly on the first try. It's not a major consideration by any means, but it's one thing to think about. Also, I know a 7 year old Sage and she is one of the best kids I've ever met, so there's that...

Zeben or Sage? Lol, I always think of potential nicknames for both good and evil. The name alone and also with your last name.
My phone wants to autocorrect it to zebra, not like that's a problem, it has autocorrected Shay to "shat" before which makes me lol.

Maybe a picture would help!

I love Sage...but I tend to lean towards nature names.... smile.gif.

OMOM, I love them both! I would, personally, use Sage but that's because it's a plant... I agree a pic would help. also, what's DD1's name (if ypu don't mind sharing).

Congrats OMOM!!!  Can't wait to hear about the birth story.  Reading different birth stories on this mothering board has really got me thinking about changing my birth plan up a bit.  I had a pretty horrible birth story with DD that was not what I wanted AT ALL but felt pressured into it.  I want to avoid that happening again.  Kentucky has one of the highest cesarean rates and induction rates in the country and home birth with a midwife is illegal (rediculous!)  I'm thinking crossing the Ohio River to have our next birth... but didn't really want to have an Indiana baby (I'm just weird like that).

As for DD and her bedtime problem... last night was pretty bad.  I implemented the token and no sippy cup in bed with her (I can never find one that doesn't leak and cause new pajamas and fixing a blanket over the spill).  Poor girl's world got turned upside down.  She was so tore up about it.  She didn't call me back in her room though, not once, even to use her token.  Tonight I rigged up a sippy cup holder to her toddler bed (a can coozie and sewing thread).  She was alright with that.  She didn't call me in tonight either.  Hopefully this will stick!

hello all, i have been dropping by from time to time to read along while i get ready to return to the boards after my miscarriage last summer.

OMOM, congratulations!  your naming decision prompted me to write because i love the name zeben, and it seems to be the underdog thus far.  i know names vary by region, but in the pacific northwest sage is incredibly common.  good luck deciding!

i'll be reading along, wishing you and everyone the best.

Zeben Sage, Zeben Sage!  joy.gifHow many syllables is your last name?  I LOVE the name Zeben.  That was number three on our list for either gender.

And Wehrli ... Where can I get one of those wagon-thingamahooeys???  What is it?  It looks like it collapses too?  Do you love it?  Is it easy to pull?  I WANT one.  We don't have a stroller, but I think it looks great for when H is getting a little too heavy to wear.  Linky-poo, please!

I love the name zeben..and i agree zeben sage rocks :)

OMom: Congratulations!!  Water birth at home sounds divine, though tearing not quite so much.  The tear will heal, though, and you'll have what sounds like an amazing, powerful, peaceful birth experience for the rest of your life...and your daughter's life.  So cool.  Can't wait to hear details when you get there.  As for names, Zeben is new to me.  How is it pronounced?  A pic would definitely help me weigh in.

Esenbee: I used to live in IN.  Hard to imagine anyone crossing lines to get there, but I can see your point about home birth.  Glad last night was better.

I'm pumping away.  I have a baby wearing friend whose sister gave birth 7 weeks ago only to be diagnosed with breast cancer and undergo a double mastectomy.  My friend and I have been pumping for the baby, who reportedly drinks up every drop of my milk smile.gif.  I've given her about 150 oz so far. I'm not nuts about the extra pumping, but I'm really glad to be able to help out this babe and mom.  The mom looks like she is in remission.

starling, yes. we love the wagon! it does collapse (i can post a pic, if you'd like). it's called the Easy Go Wagon. http://easygowagon.com/ I think my mom bought it from amazon. we haven't had it long but my cousin has owned one for a few years and says its gone through the ringer with her two kiddos, and also hauling lots of things! it seems really sturdy.

I think Sage is more common, especially in hippie-er communities.  (ok, the kids don't know a single kid named Sage, we have all kinds of plants and goddesses for friends, and know several dogs named Sage).  The only Zeben I've ever heard of is Lexbeach's son (Sorry if I am spelling it wrong).

Essnbee, Ohio laws are, I don't know really.  My midwives were DEMs, tho.  Most around here seem to be.  I bet there are midwives around you someplace.  Something to keep in mind, if there are Amish, there are midwives.

AmandaHope, what a situation!  I'm glad you feel like you're in a position where you can help.

AHope, you're so awesome!
